What I’m Doing Now

This now page was last updated on 📆 October 16, 2025.

Taking a Break

After seventeen years of building platforms, products, and teams, I’m taking a step back to reflect and decide where I want to take my career next. My last day working will be October 17th. The last several years leading teams through startup growth, acquisition, and product transformation have been exciting and humbling. I’m excited to take some time off to reconnect with my values and the impact I want to have on the world before jumping back in next year.

Everyone I’ve talked with about my plans has been extremely supportive—even envious in most cases. I’m hoping I can capture some of the sentiment as a snapshot of where we are as an industry right now, and share what I find to help others on their journeys as well. We’ll see what comes of that. In the meantime, I’m going to spend some time exploring and creating things for my own learning and enjoyment. I plan to share what I can here.

What I’m Reading

I recently finished the latest latest installment in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series—This Inevitable Ruin, by Matt Dinniman. The whole series is so exquisitely hilarious; once I start I can’t seem to put it down. I’m eagerly awaiting the release of the next book, Carl’s Book of Boom, in 2026.

I ended up putting down The Book of Disquiet by Fernando Passoa. I just couldn’t get into it. I just started the first book in the Mistborn series based on a recommendation from a colleague. I’m enjoying it so far!

I’ve been having a lot of fun discovering and reading other people’s blogs lately. Someone said to me the other day that they missed the days when everyone was blogging. Good news: we’re still here!

What I’m Listening To

I’m working through a backlog of new albums right now. I’ve been listening to Pantheon, by Dance Gavin Dance; The Blue Nowhere, by Between the Buried and Me; SEASONS // SUMMER, by Her Last Night; and From the Wool Hall, by Izzie Yardley for the past couple of weeks. Other albums on my list include purity ring, the latest album from Purity Ring; the motion picture soundtrack from Other Lives; Eternal Youth, from The Starting Line; and Everybody Scream, from Florence and the Machine. Like I said, quite a backlog.

Here’s something I’ve been enjoying that you likely haven’t heard yet:

Drums in the House

My oldest daughter has been taking drum lessons for the past six months or so. Last weekend, we caved and bought her a second-hand drum set and put it in our living room. Despite some early resistance from my partner and I, it’s been a lot of fun listening to her rock out. She’s started teaching us some basics which has been a ton of fun as well. A colleague of mine put it best: drums aren’t loud all the time.
